Acoustics

The Acoustics Behind The Wool

All the different objects and material have different acoustic properties, with the difference in terms of sound behavior in each of them, which either absorbs sound waves or reflects them, depending on the frequency.
The perception of acoustics implies the study of how these different objects and different materials, and even the people, can interfere with the acoustics and the way sound waves flow. Porous objects enhance sound absorption, unlike hard objects composed of reflective materials. Lightweight materials and objects also transmit sound more effectively than denser, heavier materials.
In order to determine the acoustic behavior of different objects and materials, it is necessary to understand their acoustic absorption coefficient, as it measures the acoustic absorption properties or the reflective capacity after its exposure to different sound frequencies.
A material that has, for example, a coefficient of 0.3 means that it absorbs 30% of the sound, with 70% of the remaining sound being reflected. A coefficient equal or superior than 0.2 is considered absorptive, a coefficient of 0.19 and lower is considered to be reflective.

The tests have already been carried out, we are waiting for the result soon.

The various acoustic solutions developed, in addition to providing a contemporary and innovative aesthetic, allow for essential acoustic comfort for the most diverse commercial and domestic spaces. We develop fabrics with different weights, from plain burel we created several types of Burel Stitches sewn by hand, as well as curtains, modular panels, tangram’s, tiles and many other customized solutions.

In order to enhance the acoustic performance, we evaluated assorted of materials to be placed on the back of the fabric. There is the chance of creating a great diversity of modular and customized solutions, allowing a wide variety of responses to project teams, offering them a greater set of solutions for the most diverse required spaces.

Some of our products are still pending test results. If you wish for further information send an email to burel.projectos@burelfactory.com
